About Christus Ministries

Christus Ministries is a Catholic nonprofit organization dedicated to spiritual formation and encounter. We cultivate spaces where young adults can encounter God, listen to the Holy Spirit, and live out their unique callings. Our team operates from a culture of accompaniment, intentionality, and communal discernment. This is not just a job, it is a calling, and we are stewards of a mission entrusted to us.

About the Role

The Parish Coordinator of Young Adult Ministry serves as the primary young adult minister at American Martyrs Catholic Community (AMCC) in Manhattan Beach, CA (approximately 75% of the role), while also supporting Christus Ministries programs and initiatives more broadly (approximately 25% of the role).

This position is for someone who is deeply relational, self-directed, and mission-driven. The right candidate will take initiative without being asked, follow through on complex details without day-to-day management, and bring genuine warmth and accompaniment to every interaction with young adults and parish staff alike.

Primary Responsibilities

Young Adult Ministry at American Martyrs Catholic Community (75%)

  • Serve as the on-site young adult minister and primary point of contact for AMCC Young Adult Ministry (YAM)

  • Lead and accompany the SALT (Serving As Leading Together) Team, a core group of young adult leaders

  • Coordinate and facilitate weekly Word & Wisdom Wednesdays gatherings

  • Develop and lead young adult ministry programs such as Curiosity Corner, Lingering & Lite Bites, Mimosas & Mingling, and welcoming faith conversations with young adults after Sunday Mass

  • Help develop and facilitate periodic young family ministry events

  • Plan and execute service, community, social, and prayer events for young adults

  • Build authentic relationships with young adults in the parish — welcoming newcomers, accompanying those who are struggling, and cultivating a warm and inclusive community

  • Collaborate with parish leadership and staff to align YAM programming with the parish's broader vision

  • Maintain ministry databases and track program participation and engagement

  • Manage ministry-related finances and budgets

  • Attend meetings with parish leadership and staff as needed

  • Connect with the wider parish community so that you become a parish resource for young adults

Christus Ministries Programs (25%)

  • Participate in weekly Christus Ministries team meetings and communal discernment

  • Support organizational programs, formation events, and retreats as assigned

  • Attend once-monthly all-team meetings (Orange County) and bi-annual team getaways

  • Contribute to organizational mission and culture as a full member of the Christus team

Who You Are

You are a self-starter who identifies what needs to happen and makes it happen — without waiting to be directed. You are deeply relational: people feel welcomed and at ease around you, and you bring genuine warmth to every encounter. You follow through on details without being reminded. You hold your vision and ideas with open hands, ready to discern and adapt in community. You embody an honest, humble, prayerful spirit and are willing to be stretched.
