A THANKFUL HOME

"And behold, Jesus met them on their way and greeted them. They approached, embraced his feet, and did him homage." - Matthew 28:9

Being especially busy lately, Easter season came in like a wrecking ball, to quote Miley Cyrus. Lent, normally a time of reflection and slowing down, became a wild and tiring time because of all the life events popping up, and as a result, I did not get the chance to spend time with Christ like I wanted to. And yet, during Holy Week and beyond, God provided me the opportunity. From attending a confession service to attending the masses and services for the Easter Triduum on a whim, culminating in a wonderful Easter Vigil mass with my parents, I am entering the Easter season filled with gratitude and some brief reprieve in peace. It felt sudden, entering into this time period, but I am so grateful for the opportunity to be in companionship with my community and, most importantly, with Christ.

Jesus met me on my way. No matter where we find ourselves in our lives, no matter how busy or slow things may seem, Jesus finds us where we are at, and greets us warmly. He returns home to us without judgment, without resentment. However, we get to choose how we welcome the risen Christ into our lives. We can be like Mary Magdalene, embracing Him and paying Him homage. We can drag our feet and slowly make our way to Him, weary from our own journeys. I would like to welcome Him to a home filled with gratitude for all He has done for me, both during the tough times and for the opportunity for a peaceful break during this Easter season to be in companionship with Him. I want to savor every moment of this season, this celebration of Jesus' resurrection, and be present for all He has in store for us.

Jesus, my heart sings in joy and thanksgiving for all You have done for me. Help me to welcome You with a heart of gratitude, filled with love, just as You always come to meet me where I am.
